Longer Page Titles in Search Results

Posted on 27/05/2016 in Google

In May 2016 Google made a move to longer page titles in search results increasing from 55-60 characters (depending on the pixel width of your title) to around 70-71 and a maximum pixel width of 578px.

Here at OptimiSEO we monitor all SERP data collected to detect changes in the title tag length, this allows us to update recommendations in our software and notify you to take advantage of the additional characters.

Google also updated the overall width of the search results section from 500 pixels to around 600 pixels creating more space between search results and the right hand sidebar.

As device sizes and browsing habits change expect Google to continue this trend in future.
